Resolved updating versions of Guru and Joomla

I am currently using Joomla V 3.3. I notice in Guru Extension that a new version is available. V 5.0.10. If I choose the download button will it automatically install with no problems on the Joomla V 3.3 .?

Should I upgrade to Joomal V. 3.6? What are my best options for a smooth transition going forward for keeping Guru up-to-date?
