I'm considering iJoomla Guru for a client's site. I would like to know
1) Do you plan on being compatible for Joomla 4 when it comes out.
2) How easy is Guru to customize according to our needs and then apply the updates without losing any customizations?
These are the responses:
1. Yes, Guru will be Joomla 4 compatible; we currently are working on this compatibility, we did the changes and we are now testing with Joomla 4 Alpha releases.
2. It is not so easy to be customization. If you mean to CSS changes, there are no issues but if you want to modify in core, you should have good joomla and PHP skills - of course as any custom modification, you should apply it every time when you do Guru upgrade.
I have a few more questions:
I am comparing software and want to know -- does Guru do the following:
1) Text and / or email messages
2) Social Learning
3) Integration with a CDN like Amazon S3 or is this something we can customize on our end since the software is opensource
4) The forum responses seem to be slow. I notice some posts are a week old or longer and never been answered - once I become a customer do I get better support?
Hi Lisa,
Guru doesn't have yet implemented text messages, social learning (not sure what you really mean by this), no integration with Amazon or S3.
About the tickets, I am daily working on support and respond to all but it may happen from time to time to be slower on some questions which are not easy to respond to.
Thank you,
ALIN
Social learning - I think that's done by pairing JomSocial with iGuru so I think digging deeper into the info helped me figure that out.
So if it's not integrated with Amazon or S3 then are all the videos, docs, mp3, etc stored on the hosting server? If so the space may fill up rather quickly. Any plans to integrate with any kind of CDN services? Can I find a developer to add that to your software for us? In other words is iGuru software coded such that we can customize it on our end?
We run our videos from Vimeo and have not had an issue with that. I upload the video to Vimeo, make the privacy and other settings changes to the video (hide from Vimeo, any player changes we want, only allow the video to play in certain domains, etc) and then get the embed code for the video and use that code when associating the video file to lesson.
